08/30/08 First Full Day in Scotland: Laundry Adventures

Yo deseo hablar con mi amigo Iain. Iain vive en Glasgow, Scotland y el trabje en la computadora. Para mi la computadora es no interesante, para Iain la computadora es moy interesante y importante. Ahora la computadora es moy importante para mi. Mi acuerdo un tiempo con no computadoras en la clase.

The next morning when we woke up we went through the normal routine: shower, get dressed, eat, come back to the room, brush teeth, and make our plans for the day. Ahmee told me that our plan for the day was to spend the day unwinding, doing laundry, and catching up on any more homework. I did go over my homework again, and I finished an assignment for US Government, then I spent a lot of time emailing people. Yes, the hotel had wifi (wireless) and it was great! I talked to Iain loads that morning before we headed out to do laundry. He said he could come over in the evening so that Ahmee and Poppy could meet him and get to know him, this proposal was turned down by Ahmee who said that we were too tired and we needed to spend the day recuperating. He also said that he'd be happy to spend the day with us in Edinburgh. To this, Ahmee said that'd be fine and that we'd meet him at 9:30 in the morning at Waverly Station in Edinburgh. Whenever Iain emailed saying that his mom had invited us for tea and scones Ahmee and Poppy said that they'd happily accept the invitation (after a bit of looking at each other though).

Then they went to pick up the car from the train station I took a shower and talked on the computer some more. Once they got back we ran to lunch and then we took our clothes to the Laundromat. On the way out Ahmee and I agreed that it was a very good thing that we had two different interpreters on this trip. Ahmee was going to be the interpreter for French and Spanish, and I was going to be the interpreter of the English. When we asked the lady at the desk for directions to a Laundromat she spoke so fast that I had to repeat everything that she said to Ahmee and Poppy. I've had more experience with the accents and the speed since I've had Mrs. Simpson as a teacher and I've been talking to Iain for over a year.

It took us a long time to find a Laundromat. I think that at the beginning I kept thinking that we'd turned one too many times and that we'd started out in the wrong direction. I have no idea still if that idea is true or not. We ended up getting directions from two different people: a taxi driver, and a lady in a grocery store. The taxi driver told us which town we needed to go to, but he didn't give us specific enough directions as to how to get there. The grocery store lady told us that.

Once we got to the Laundromat we dumped our things into the washer and then Ahmee and I headed over to a small store I had seen down the street. The name of the store is escaping me at the moment, I believe it was Wisteria Way. It was a Scottish Whimsy except the things in Wisteria Way were cheaper! Ahhhhh so many fun things to check out. Ahmee and I wanted to buy one too many things in that store. I could've used up all of my money that I've saved up for this trip in there.

As usual, we had to eventually leave, so we went back to the Laundromat to wait for another 30 minutes and then we headed back to the hotel where we ate, talked on the computer, and slept. My bed was a pain to sleep in though. Comfy at first but as the night went on it kept getting harder, and then in the morning the sun would peak through the sides of the curtains at me.
