09/19/08 From Paris to Giverny

There is no way I will ever be able to convey what I want to for this day. This is one of those magical days that warmed my heart and soothed my mind. I'll do my best to explain what I mean, but I'm afraid that my best will never be good enough.

The day started out normally enough. We grabbed our things after eating breakfast, went downstairs and got a cab, got the cab driver to take us to the europcar rental station at the airport, and then after we got the car we proceeded to drive to Versailles. On the road I did my best to try and type blogs, because all this time we'd spent in Paris was not recorded and needed to be. I say I did my best to record the events because while we were on the road my stomach rolled and heaved in protest every time I opened up the laptop and started typing. This was confusing for me because I hadn't had so many problems when we were in the UK, and when we were there we took the back roads, while we were on the road to Giverny we took the highway. When we stopped at a truck station to grab lunch I grabbed a Sprite and plenty of foods that my stomach likes in the hopes that it would work with me. All of that was in vain. My stomach still refused to be settled and I eventually gave up for fear of getting sick.

I don't get carsick whenever I'm not reading or writing, but when I focus my attention on the print I'm unable to sit up straight and watch the road. Doing those two things normally keeps me from getting carsick, but this time even that didn't completely help me. I wanted to crack the window open a bit because fresh air always helps me, but I couldn't do that whenever we were on a really fast road because the noise from the window hurt Poppy's ears. He told me to roll it up and Ahmee cranked up the ac. I told her I wasn't hot, that I just needed the fresh air, and so she turned it back down. I kept the window rolled up until we got to Giverny.
